Obama Defends Offshore Drilling But Won't Say 'Drill Baby Drill'

President Obama states: "The fact that oil companies now have to go a mile under water and then drill another three miles below that in order to hit oil tells us something about the direction of the oil industry: extraction is more expensive and it is going to be inherently more risky," But then he still advocates increased off-shore drilling because as he states, "we're still years off and some technological breakthroughs away from being able to operate on purely a clean energy grid."

Am I missing something? Will the US' existing oil wells run bone dry before green energy technologies can be implemented? Has anyone in this country heard of " energy conservation"? Has this oil spill, its impact of the Gulf's fishing industry, the impact on wildlife and the ecosytem and, BP's Keystone Cops approach to the problem taught politicos nothing? Of course, if our nation was not currently involved in two wars maybe we could throw all of our resources at developing clean energy technologies.

Now would be the perfect time to ask Americans to make sacrifices, to drive less and consume less energy in general but NO, politicians on both the left and right are still advocating for off-shore drilling. So Sad
